Mautic Project Lead

Community has been part of my life as long as I remember.

From growing up in a small Dorset village to singing in choirs, joining the Sea Cadets and numerous groups at University, I've always found or built a 'tribe' around the things I care about.

Needless to say, when the opportunity to work as a Community Manager supporting an Open Source project which I am passionate about arose, I jumped at the chance and haven't looked back since.  In May 2020 I had the opportunity to step up to Project Lead as DB Hurley stepped back from the role.

Community Management is a truly diverse profession which allows me to bring my wide range of skills into action (and has forced me to learn a whole load of new skills to boot!).

Leading the Mautic community is wonderful job in many ways. It brings together my geekiness with my love of people and community. It allows me to channel my energies in a direction that allows me to help others succed, which one of my core values.

As many other CM's will tell you, it's also a real challenge. Working for a project that you are really passionate about makes it hard to switch off. Being Project Lead for a community that never sleeps can lead to feeling like you are 'always available'. It's definitely a balancing act, but also a daily challenge and an exciting opportunity to help this Open Source project grow and thrive!

Digital Strategist, Mautic Expert

I live and breathe anything digital - particularly if stats are involved!  I've been a digital geek since the first days of the internet, playing on computers in the IT room after school and teaching myself pretty much everything I know.  My background in data analysis for healthcare further grew my interest around how data can help make informed decisions which, when combined with my geekiness, found a great combination!

Mautic expert

Since Mautic entered the beta release stage, I've been a keen advocate and have developed an in-depth understanding of the system and its quirks.  I love how Mautic is opening up the world of marketing automation to anybody - no longer is it the realm of the big and mighty due to the exhorbitant costs of the licensing fees - and putting the power back in the hands of those who stand to benefit so much from it.

I am super privileged to be working in a role that directly supports this fantastic Open Source project.

Structured Data and Rich Snippets Specialist

Do you need a Structured Data Specialist?  Have you noticed how some websites have extra information in their search listings (Rich Snippets) which are missing from yours?

I can help you to implement Structured Data in a strategic way, bringing a quick return on investment to develop the business case for further investment and development which will provide you with long-term benefits.

Joomla! Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) Specialist

If you have a Joomla! website and it's not working for you - perhaps you're not getting as much traffic as you would like, or there is some kind of problem with your search engine optimisation, I'm here to help.  I've worked with Joomla! since the early days of 1.0.x and have deveoped a keen interest in the area of Search Engine Optimisation (SEO).

Some of the services I offer include:

  • Search Engine Optimisation report - this usually takes between 4-6 hours and depending on the complexity of your site and the scale of the problem, the report can vary between 15-30+ pages.  It gives you a clear overview of where you are now, and will highlight any problems that might be affecting your position in Search Engine Results Pages (SERPs).  I will require access to your analytics package and details of the domains you manage in order to complete this.

  • Ad-hoc Search Engine Optimisation work - whether this is to implement a plan which has come about through an SEO report, or you simply need some help with sorting out your pages and ideas for blog posts, ad-hoc work can often be the best way to go - all ad-hoc work is charged at an hourly rate based on timesheets.

  • Monthly Search Engine Optimisation work, including monthly report - depending on the size and complexity of work required, a monthly retainer can be implemented to ensure that your website stays at the top of the lsitings for your main search terms, and to monitor key metrics which allows you to identify developing problems before they arise.
